I have loved flowers all my life. As a child the high desert wildflowers taught me to look and notice, however fleeting or subtle the seasonal gift might be. I remember the first glimpse each summer of the slender stemmed and elusive Mariposa lily, rising pale purple from the sandy soil. And just once, a white one, my step mom found the morning she and my dad were married.
In the lush green of the Willamette Valley I fell further under the floral spell. My grandmother Jane K. Platt filled my young heart with a love of gardens, plants and flowers. She would generously send me out into her amazing garden with a basket and clippers, telling me I could pick anywhere. Then, as we selected flower-frogs and filled vases, she would tell me the names and the stories of all these beautiful flowers. Her garden was a fairy land to me as a child and it continues to inspire me and influence my work today. I have also had the very good fortune to study with Max Gill, Nicolette Camille, Erin Benzakein and Amy Merrick.

I am interested in expressing what is most essential and vital about each season. My designs use the most lush and vibrant blooms available, sourced from local farms, gardens and growers.

AMY WAS BORN NATURE OBSESSED WITH ART AND FLOWERS IN HER BLOOD.

ARRANGING EACH STEM WITH INTENTION AND POETIC MOVEMENT WAS INTOXICATING TO HER.

THE TACTILE NATURE AND UNIQUE CHALLENGE OF MANIPULATING MATERIALS WAS SOMETHING SHE CRAVED IN HER OTHER ARTISTIC STUDIES BUT SHE HADN’T FOUND IT UNTIL THAT MOMENT.

BY THE END OF THAT FIRST CLASS, SHE KNEW THIS WAS HER MEDIUM.

IN FACT….IT WAS HER CALLING.

From that moment forward, she immersed herself in training to be the professional designer and expert she is today. She received her professional training at the accredited Golden West College Floral Design and Shop Management program and has continued to study and learn from some of the best in the business.

Her experience has spanned two decades in retail floristry and special events and over the past two decades she built a successful freelance career working alongside many industry giants and launched her own special events studio, Amy Nicole Floral.

Her experienced voice has now led her to teaching and training floral designers across the country through private and group workshops and speaking at floral conferences nationwide.

Featured on *Design Sponge as one of the “20 Florists to Follow on Instagram,” Amy has won multiple design awards including “Mastery in Principles of Design” chosen by the Senior Style Editor of Martha Stewart.

In 2018, Team Flower named her “Designer of the Year” and her work has been featured and published in major international and national wedding blogs, including Martha Stewart Weddings, Once Wed, Hochzeitsguide, and many more
